Lori, Ann said she was hoping to put it off until May so she could work at Paducah, but realized she was in too much pain. So they moved it up to April 20th, I believe.

Oh, thank you, everyone! I am doing well. I am glad, however, that I only have 2 hips and now both of them are done!! My surgery was on Monday (April 20). As the Dr. 'promised', I was walking the day of surgery and home the next day! Truly amazing. I get a little better each day and am faithfully doing the exercises that are prescribed. I do them at home, 3x a day, 7 days a week, for 12 weeks! If I have made the right progress at my 3 week checkup, I just continue to do them, if not, I will have to go to a therapy facility. I feel confident that I will 'pass' at the 3 week checkup.

kho is right, I had originally scheduled the surgery for May 4, but realized several weeks ago that my hip was deteriorating more rapidly than I hoped and that I would never be able to work as hard as I always work in Paducah, and that would be unfair to QIAD and Orion. I was able to reschedule the surgery, and after a few tears adjusted to the fact that I would miss Paducah this year.

I am already walking better than I was last Sunday - the day before the surgery!

Thanks to all for caring!
Ann

Another update: At my 8 week checkup I got the 'all clear', and was told to come back in 2-3 years! I'll be running circles around the 'youngsters' in Paducah in 2016.

For anyone needing this surgery, please do not hesitate. They have made great improvements in the 7 years between mine and I am amazed at the speed of my recovery.
