Linda Parker's birthday is the 24 of this month. This forum was
Linda's "baby" from the get go. It was her idea, and her creation. Things change and Linda is no longer in charge of the forum. She is so busy that she doesn't read the posts and only posts when it comes from El herself. I know there will be many posts on her birthday thread. I thought about a card shower,however there is a problem. Linda's DH is going through chemo, and I know none of us want to expose him to any "bugs." We also don't want to flood her emails with well wishes. What I am suggesting is this: Pm me a short birthday message, around the 22 of this month. I will paste them into an email and send it on to Linda. This way Linda can read them at her time, and we protect her DH, who will be having a second dose of chemo about the same time. What do you think??

First of all this is a great idea and I am sure that Linda will enjoy the gift. Just for the record sending cards does not endanger a chemo patient...."Bug" don't live on dry mail or fabric. so if you decide to send her a card it will not endanger her hubby or anyone else. Folks under going Chemo may develope a low white count which inhibits their ability to fight infection. Usually the only danger comes from plants soil or fresh items brought into the house, or visits by small children with colds or others with infections. only if the white count is super low. Working in oncology for many years has taught me this and I would hate for a chemo patient to be deprived of cards and well wishes. just thought you should know. Also most patients with low counts are given special injections to bring up their white count and protect them from infection.
