I am so proud of my LOQ lady

Post by Chrissy1 » Mon Aug 24, 2009 3:57 pm

As everyone know I still do not have the hack for all of this quilting but working on it. I have been taking my tops to a wonderful lady not too far from our house. Her first name is Lorean. WHen I was over there this evening she showed me these snuggle size quilts she was making. I am afraid in all the emotion I totally forgot the name of the group but what it is, is every year they send her photos of a soldier and his family on squares. They also send her the label with the child or wife's name. She does the borders, puts the photos together like a patchwork and then she machine quilts and binds. This year she has a family of 4 children. They aren't big quilts but perfect for a child or grownup when they just need that closeness. I am so proud to know someone that is so kind and thoughtful. Some years she will do up to 5 famlies. Last year she did one that broke her heart as there were no photos of the baby and daddy. Daddy lost his life before the baby was born so Lorean had photos of just the dad. I won't get on my soap box about war becasue we all have our own private opinions. I just wanted to say if any of you know of Lorean from Art & soul in elbridge ny, she is an angel. I wish I could remember the name of the organization. Thank you to all of those that do such kind hearted gifts.

Chrissy, What a wonderful person she must be. That would be so heart wrenching to do some of those quilts knowing the circumstances around them. If you find out the name or anyway we could help, please let us know. Thank you for telling us about this. Please let the lady know that she is in my prayers and asking God's blessings on what she does. And tell her thank you from a military mom.

When my son in law went overseas, we tried to do various things for his little son left behind. One thing my dd did was buy two identical stuffed toys, monkeys, and sent one to daddy. They both sleep with them each night and know the other one has one too. It is a real comfort to my dgs sometimes when he hugs it and says he really misses daddy. they do talk on the phone each day but many soldiers involved in the up front battles can not do that. Picture quilts would be a great comfort to anyone, especially to the children left behind.

Thanks again for posting this. God bless you for being you and doing all you do on this forum. I, for one, appreciate it greatly. God bless you too today and always, Hugs and love, shirley Mae

Shirley Mae you are such a sweetheart. I am going to call Lorean and ask her. I need to ask her hubbys first name also as he took it upon himself to locate a treadle belt for me and at a great price. I can't imagine having a family member in the military and to be a child and have their mommy or daddy away, just can't imagine.
