A freinds daughter is having triplets. I don't know the baby-mom, jut the baby grandmom...

I would like to make something thoughtful, but not totally time consuming, as I still work full time!

I am thinking of birp bloths, but he diaper ones are not very exciting...I do have a quilting sewing machine and a embrodery machine...so all suggestions are doable.

thanks,

rita

I've made alot of burp rags. Long enough to go over the shoulder-you know how they seem to spit up on your back LOL... You could even embroider on them. I made some to match the blankets & quilts I made too. Since diapers cost alot, you could use flannel on both sides

I have seen the "spit" catchers made from the diapers that have been deocrated with many different things and are very nice. The diapers do cost a lot, so that may be a condiseration. I have used "finger tip" towels to make them also.

I have made several burp cloths with diapers and embroidery on them.

Burp cloths made of cloth diapers and trimmed with ribbon stitched along 2 edges are very handy and cute. Maybe do different colors for each baby, and get a matching onesie or footie suit to go with?

If you wanted to make a quilt you could get panels and just add backing and binding.

good luck with your adventure

Since you know the grandma better than the mother to be you could make GMA a quilt to have at her house when the grandkids come.

Maybe this would work.

I just made my grandson bibs that are made out of handtowels that have a hole cut out for the head. I use ribbing to finish off the hole so it slips over his head like a t-shirt. My kids wore them when they were little and now he is wearing them. My daughter loves the large flannel receiving blankets I made her. The fourty inch square ones are great for swaddling babies. They are easy to do with flannel and a decorative stitch around the border.

I like the idea of a qult for the grandmother, but what about making it an eye-spy type that the babies can "grow" into at grandma's house. That way grandma and the babies can lay on it and play eye spy.

Keep stitchn,
Jan

I vote for burp cloths. And use flannel, it works just fine. My daughter said she could never have enough burp cloths and she only had one child. The thought of 3 is overwhelming. Put decorative print fabric on one end and use a bright colorful flannel if you like for the burping part. I found a pattern on line for one but don't remember where. If I can find it. I will post the website. The receiving blankets are a nice idea too. Perfect for newborns and make them big enough. Simple to make too. Just buy flannel and hem it.

Happy stitching for the babies. The grandma and the mom will appreciate anything that you do. Homemade is special from anyone.
Hugs, Shirley Mae
