perfect project to use up scraps - in a meaningful way!

Post by justdawne » Thu Jul 10, 2008 2:40 am

A friend just sent me this link http://www.goods4girls.org/'>http://www ... girls.org/ and I had to share.

What a great way to use up scraps, making reusable menstrual pads, while supporting success in education. AND we're talking seriously eco-friendly here! It's just a WIN-WIN if you ask me.

I am going to try 2 of the patterns listed today to see how it goes, which works best for me, etc.. I'm a bit of a sewing novice so I thought if I manage to do it so many others here at the forum could make these easily!

Hopefully I'll have photos to post sometime in the next few days.

For those who may not have scraps good for making pads there is also a need for a wet bag. Pattern also available on the site. I bought a bit of rainwear to give it a go!

And of course, you can always buy a professionally made pad (on average $2) or kit (of 5 pads) and have it/them shipped to goods4girls directly - For FREE!

You're welcome Susan. May you have beter luck making one (if you choose to) than I had the first time round!

I learned a lot from the experience though and will try again this evening.

Please post pictures if you make a pad.
