We have 140 acres of flood growned that we bought with my fil and bil and it's under water. My dh's family decided to build weekend homes there and you should see them now! I am so happy we didn't. We bought a used 3 bed mobile home about 3 miles from the property. Everything we have is dry. Maddison2007 has water all around them but they live on higher ground. They can't get out. The water is starting to go down that's the only good news.

Oh Nadine, that sounds so awful. I am glad your stuff is dry but feel so bad for your inlaws.

I can't believe what I see on the news with the flood waters. It is so devastating.

Nadine, We went thru a real bad flood here about 7 years ago. Water was coming in the door but we were lucky to be on the crest of a little hill and the sand bags kept the water back long enough that only the edge of the carpet got wet. Many of our neighbors weren't so lucky, some had over a foot of standing water in their homes. I am so thankful that you are okay and wish the best for your family.

I stayed home yesterday and my dh went up there it's about 37 miles from our house (I had so much sewing to do) anyway my inlaws and the rest of the family were there and this one guy waded the water and got my fil's canoe and brought it out then some of the others waded in and got a bigger boat. They were taking the boat in and out getting stuff and my dh's boat started to turn over and they jumped out he said he was never that afraid before it really scared him. I was really upset he went in the water. His father has a really big truck and it slide off of the road and almost turned over my dh tied it to his truck and pulled them out. I'm glad I stayed home. In 93 I took a jon boat across the Missouri River to get to work and it scared me pretty bad I don't go anywhere near it anymore and don't care to.

There were some guys in Hermann charging for rides across the river in 93 an I rode with them I didn't drive the jon boat.
