I am about 45 minutes from Sacramento, CA in a little foothill town that only has 2500 people. I love living in Amador County. It is close enough to get to any big shopping I could ever want but without the traffic. It is wonderful.

Idaho is between Washington/Oregon on the west and Montana on the east. The northern most border is Canada

Spudgrandma ~ I have family that live near a little town in the northern panhandle of Idaho called Sand Point. I grew up near Modesto, Ca and know exactly where Atwater is.
