Hi all- this is a night of cutting for me! I am cutting out a pink pillowcase for one of my students that has surgery next Tuesday to remove a tumor. Pink is her favorite color and then I plan to tuck in some books for her to read. She likes American Girls series and Magic Tree House series. (As long as I am cutting pillowcases, maybe I will cut some extras to donate to the Boutique Sale.) What was everyone's thoughts on using Christmas fabric for pillowcases??? I have plenty of fabric on hand, so I can go with Christmas fabrics or I can use other fabrics.
I am also going to cut out some Heart Blocks to sew up & ship to QIAD Linda for fire victims. And if I have any time left- I plan to continue sewing on a strip quilt that I started last Saturday. It uses Kansas Trouble fabric AND a Kansas Trouble pattern. I LOVE that fabric line! :-)
Enjoy reading about the "minutes" of this guild meeting! It appears we have LOTS of secretaries in THIS guild!!!!!!! LOL

I'm just in from improv class. I tell ya, theatre games really help you to stretch out those sewing muscles! Now I'm hoping to hit the cutting mat for 30 min. to cut out some pieces for placemats. Sunday is the guild work day in support of Meals on Wheels.

I also have some denim to cut for tomorrow's teen quilting circle. Not sure yet where the girls will choose to donate the quilt when it's ready.

'My' biggest project personally is coordinating a group quilt for a young man who lost his 2 kids in a house fire. Perhaps we could all add Danny in New Brunswick to our ever-growing prayer list??

I expect blocks to arrive at my place any day. Last night a longarm quilter volunteered to do the actual quilting so I'm really enjoying the project and have no anxiety about completing it!

I've also managed to finished a comfort square to send to Linda for her local church and 2 blue and white blocks to send to Cindy. I hope to get one more done on Sunday before I mail them. If m-i-law invites us for Sunday dinner that'll knock out my sewing time but boy is she a great cook!!

Off to don my PJs and get that rotary cutter going!

AAACCCKKKK!!! They're back! I recognize that little roo, he's the one that tried to kidnap Daisy during the 90% off sale! Yeah kadie, YOU'RE nice to me, but you sic those critters on me! In fact, I see some of my Through the Seasons fabric in the background under the brush....arrrrhg, they're making me nervous!

I'm stuffing my face with junk food and in hog heaven here! Soon as I finish the first round of eating, I'm going to go pull out fabric and start cutting out pillowcases.

You folks sound like you are having some great fun!! I am off to the sewing room (down the hall) to finish a fleece blanket I started earlier. I hope you all have a grand time.

Kadie, love your pics. I think roos are 'cute', but I am sure you have a different opinion about them. I forget you are in 'spring' and you have babies being born to the wildlife.

Now, you all be nice to GP. She has worked very hard getting all her 'from the heart' projects done. You don't want to stretch her 'boa' out!! ROFLOL!!!!

Hey lifeisgrand - love your pillow case full of books idea.

My only suggestion, with regards to making more, would be to use Christmas fabric on one side. Another general print on the flip side. That way the pillow case is usable all year :)

OK here's a nature lesson!!
Platypus live in fresh water streams, usually in a burrow in the bank. They have a bill like a duck and a tale sorta similar to a beaver.
They lay eggs but when the babies hatch out, the mothers develop milk glands and feed their babies.
The males have a poisonous spur on their back legs, which is full of venom and very nasty if you get got.
They are called monotreme mammals and the only other one in the world is our echidna (spiney ant-eater) which also lays eggs and feeds its young milk.
