Gramajojo- As much as I love to quilt....I wouldn't want to work in a cold sewing room either!!!!! So, not to worry, Girlfriend! I totally understand! (And in the meantime- pat yourself on the back for having helped out with the Christmas stockings for the service men, women, and veterans!) You're the best and you deserve a great big {{{HUG}}}~Marcia

PS-Yes, I will probably be sending another round of pillowcases to the Landstuhl Hospital at a much later date (perhaps in early November in honor of Veteran's Day). So, when the weather warms up you can sew up a few pillowcases then to get a 'jump-start' on our next pillowcase deadline! LOL

Hooray-More pillowcases arrived!

Iowagal sent two fun & colorful pillowcases made out of a smiley face print! This fabric ought to bring a SMILE to the patient's face...don't ya think?! Thank you, Sharon!

CyberSue shared ten of the most delightful pillowcases! The horse print with the lt. blue cuffs made into gorgeous, eye-catching pillowcases! Hey, tell me what sports lover wouldn't appreciate the fabric showing off all different kinds of sports equipment (football, soccer ball, bat, glove, etc)?! And the print with the baseball team pennants will delight those who LOVE baseball. I bet there are some service folks that have a special team they love to cheer on!! I know you were worried about "drunken-like" sewing lines caused from your meds...but your pillowcases look TOP-NOTCH to me!) :-) Thank you, dear Sue! You amaze...and inspire me!

FIFTEEN pillowcases from homegirl will be appreciated by our recuperating soldiers! What a wonderful variety of fabrics: plaids, stripes, dinosaurs, mini-hearts, and more! Your flannel fabric is soft & cuddly with a cute design. (Blue and brown sure make a great color combo, don't you think?!) You know-there just might be some soldier from South Dakota that will want to latch onto your pillowcase made using the bison, Black Hills, etc. fabric! Thank you for your generous donation of pillowcases, Judy!

Thank you so very much! A trio of hugs ( HUG/HUG/HUG) goes out to these three talented and thoughtful ladies! ~Marcia

Yippee, Skippy! We just might make it to 200 pillowcases!!!! I received 20 more today!

gmaann- I loved your five pillowcases! What a clever idea to use a musical instrument print! I'm sure there are some musically talented soldiers who will cherish this pillowcase! Also the fly fishing lures will jog some fond memories for some service men/women. The wildlife print was absolutely majestic! I think it had almost every wild animal: bear, wolf, deer, bison, elk, hawk, owl, eagle, and more! The pillowcase with the flags on a cream background had a marvelous antique look. And the star printed fabric was pleasing to the eyes as well. You sure did an excellent job picking out your fabrics, Ann!

bvquilts- Awesome pillowcases! The eagle fabric with the flag & shield was quite symbolic and will truly be a patriotic keepsake for some lucky patient! The flannel print of lodge signs is fun for the viewer to take in...lots to read & enjoy (and soft)! The pinecones on the green check will remind some patient of being outdoors at a time when he/she can't be outdoors. Great choices of fabrics, Brenda. (Thanks for the po$tage donation too!)

kittyquilt9292- I received your Dozen Delightful pillowcases! Loved the fancy stitching you did on some of the cuffs (stars, loopty-loops, and one stitch design reminded me of the line of a heart monitor!! LOL)! The coffee/latte prints will be a 'substitute' treat for our recovering soldiers to enjoy...till they get the 'real thing'! I LOVED the fabric that showed various Washington, DC monuments such as the White House, the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, etc. Very, very patriotic and very appropriate! The green toile print will have a soothing and calming affect on its lucky patient. I also like your dusty-rose colored floral stripe fabric and your denim colored stripe fabric. All were terrific fabrics, Carol!

A "King-Kong" sized {{{HUG}}} going out to the three of you! ~Marcia

Last week I sent SEVEN priority mailing boxes (stuffed with pillowcases) overseas to the Landstuhl Hospital in Germany for our wounded American soldiers. Our 192 pillowcases will arrive in time to be delivered to our hospitalized soldiers on Valentines Day. What a great way to show them that we care! I wish I could be there when each soldier receives his/her lovely pillowcase! (I caressed each beautiful pillowcase before I packed it into the mailing box...so I can say the pillowcases were packed with TLC!) :-)
Again I had my second graders decorate pillowcases to send to the soldiers. They put their handprint in one corner & then wrote a sentence on the middle of the pillowcase. ("We salute you!" or "Thank you for serving our country." or "Thank you for all the sacrifices you make.") They were very excited to be a part of this project!
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all you wonderful ladies who pitched in and helped with this project too! The fabric selections were impressive and the workmanship was top-notch! This truly is a caring forum...filled with quality people! You're the best and your willingness to sew up 192 pillowcases is the proof! The wounded soldiers will really appreciate this act of kindness!
Sending out 192 {{{HUGS}}} to everyone who helped with this project!~Marcia

Marcia, I thought I would move this to the top, as I have been thinking of your project since I have been working on pillowcases for other people. The year is going so fast and thought we could keep this in mind again.

Hugs.....Jeanne
