SewDreamer, that's a good book/video, huh? Get something to practice on and go for it! I've heard a few ladies on here saying they use cheater cloths or panels. I'm going to go set up my Janome and get ready to work on my projects. And get a piece of apple pie! LOL! Be back in just a bit!

It didn't beat You, Bransmom, it beat your needle. No shame in that! We learn from our adventures. Next time you'll know to judge the puffiness factor before you quilt it. :)

gmaann- you're right about that, and it really scares me now since I just got my new machine. Certainly don't want to wreck it before I atleast pay for it! LOL

Leetec

I'm way way way too new to quilting to try a venture like this. I have no idea what I was thinking but in theory I thought why wouldn't it work.

I'll just add binding and be done and that will be that.

Thanks everyone for your input and if anybody sleeps on it and comes up with a revelation ... PM me!

Hi all!! Just popped in to say hi. I'm not even going to check responses to this post until tomorrow.

We're shutting our computers down (unusual for us). we're right on the freezing rain/snow line for the storm moving in tonight, and so we're shutting down the computers.

We're planning on a snow day today - and DH went to the store and got all sorts of comfort foods! We had eclairs tonight (rare treat, with his diabetes).

My bone spur in my foot is getting worse, good thing I go to the doctor on the 17th!

This weekend - well - it's the storm, so I'll be sewing away (if we have power, there are strong winds coming in after the snow/freezing rain/rain/etc/etc/etc). I need to post some SNOW pictures from the blizzard last winter for Kadie's enjoyment! I'll look them up tomorrow.

Take care everyone, and STAY WARM!!!

Cindy

I've been quilting for over 10 years and I still come up with plans that sound great...and then I try them! So I learn and make a new plan. It all works out in the end.

Popping in again, trying to get the gist of the chat...!

QIAD-Linda, absolutely NO offense taken at the comment about my being "so young"...it was sweet of you, not rude in the least! I am 46, but have been told I look younger. I think it's the long hair, blue jeans, and tennies that do it? Who knows? Funny, when I was in my teens I was often mistaken for my mid-20's...it really is all in yer noggin, anyway!

I had a glass of wine with dinner so I don't know how long I am going to last this evening...I am sitting here with a buzz on! LOL Real cheap date, eh?

Shoot, it's about time to start the bedtime thing around here. Hope I'm not too far gone to read a story! Hic!

I just got home and thought I would drop in and see what everyone is talking about.

SewDreamer. . .I just received El's Primer on Machine Quilting also. I really want to try some things after the Holidays. Oh and Welcome to the forum.

I went serger shopping this afternoon. Got to try a top of the line Pfaff (sp), it's only $2400.00. LOL It has automatic tension and a lot of extras, but doesn't have the "Whoosh" auto threading like the Baby Lock. It was fun to sew on but need to keep shopping.

Have Fun,
Linda S / OASIS
