Re: Saturday April 26--Sew In
Hi all..it is 88 here and we are about to start the BBQ so i am just saying "hi". A friend who we haven't seen in about 5 years is coming down from the Hollywood area. I am so excited he is a great guy and we have missed him. Our lives just got hectic, and so did his and although we have kept in touch we just drifted out of getting together. John and I decided we were going to make an effort to re-connect with him and with a couple of other friends who have drifted away..
we are all excited that Rob is coming. the girls call him Uncle Rob because he was such a big part of their lives until he moved to the San Fernando Valley (a couple of hour drive in traffic)

The pastel blocks are coming along nicely. Got the small squares sewn together, now need to iron & sew on the longer piece. I'm sure that I'll get them done tonight unless I spend too much time chatting away. lol DH threw a frozen pizza in the oven & we just finished that, so I'll be here for awhile.

Hi Redtop and SewCarolyn, I am trying to cut the butterfly. Truthfully, if I cut it correctly I don't think it will be that difficult. It has a quartersquare triangle in it, but I am sure I can manage that. I love the challenge and I only have to do a couple of blocks. It isn't too overwhelming.

Carolyn - Your visit with old friends sounds really fun. It is so hard when people move a few hours away. You wouldn't think you would lose touch, but it is very easy to lose touch in L.A.
I just picked up the copy the library had for me of The Friday Night Knitting Club. We were talking about books a couple weeks ago. I am looking forward to reading it.

Quilter7........please let me know how that book is. I've also wanted to read it for awhile. I'm anxiously waiting for the new Nora Roberts one to come out on May 6th. I'll definitely be picking it up on my lunch hour!

Taking a little break and thought I'd say HI. It's really a big break because the Harry Potter movie is on. (I love those books)
I am actually quilting. My free motion isn't that good, but it gets the job done and that's what important. Has to be done to hang in a show that starts this week. The way I work, it is obviously not judged.

Well, I wanted to sew today but I couldn't muster the energy; having trouble focusing my eyes, too, and didn't want to make a bunch of dumb errors or slice off a fingertip!
With my kids off on a camping trip and my husband working, I have pretty much been a slug all day! Ma and I have had a super quiet day around here. I actually laid on my bed and READ A BOOK for more than 3 hours this morning, completely undisturbed. I haven't done that in YEARS! Packed a box full of books. Watched two great movies on TV, "The Shootist" and "Paper Moon". Ate what I felt like eating, when I felt like eating it.
Warm day today. I think I'll go to bed early-ish, since I haven't had a nap today and have been awake since 0400. A cool shower and fresh jammies is sounding real good.
Thanks very much for all the get-well notes. I feel just lousy enough that I am grouchy, so it's a good thing my kids are gone!
Have fun sewing and chatting!

Just finished dinner---carne asada burrito, watermelon, guacamole. Yummy.
Carole, glad you had a day to yourself. I know what you mean about a cool shower--Its still 80 outside
I made a duvet for my bed today. Had an old top sheet that I used for the backing & for the top Magic Vine. It just makes the room look summery.
Carolyn I know you had fun with your get together and Caren with her jumpy..
