Maria I think it would be entirely up to you whether to quilt the border or not. Bet it will look great either way.

Oasis, I'm tempted to go with your suggestion because that would mean that I only have the binding left on this quilt which has taken forever to finish! It is past 1a.m. here so I'll leave the final decision until Sunday (no time for it tomorrow).

What are you guys working on right now?

I shoud be in bed, but I'm watching a DVD called "Mastering the art of McTavishing". Have any of you tried it? I think it looks so great and am wondering if I should dare try that on my next quilt even though I'm quilting on a regular home sewing machine...

Cathy, yeah, I guess that's what's so tempting about it - it looks so easy when she shows it on the DVD. But, I just got to the part where she has a woman trying it out on a regular sewing machine and suddenly it doesn't look very easy any more... :-)

What are you working on this evening?

Maria, I just ordered and received that book and DVD. How funny! I have not had time yet to look at the DVD but I saw her on Simply Quilts (which is why I got the book). She does make it look easy. I was most interested in the process where she made her quilt sandwich then stitched a line, like a flower stem, then cut the batting away everywhere but the stem. then she stipple quilted all around. It made the stem stand out and look like trapunto. I'll have to watch the DVD, I hope this is on it.
Have Fun,

Right now I am hand sewing binding to the back of a quilt for 1 of the twin grand-girlies. Just a fun, whimsical quilt. LOL Nothing major I promise. LOL

Hi Cathy, have you attempted our "Hanging Basket" quilt yet? I really like the center motif, so might try just that.

No, I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I also really like that center! I still need 1 more pc of fabric to do it.

Cathy, it must feel so good to be so close to finishing the quilt!

Oasis, the thing with the trapunto-looking stem isn't on the DVD I'm watching right now, but when I ordered it a few months ago (after someone mentioned it here on the forum) I also ordered another book by her called "The secrets of elemental quilting" and it has a DVD with some trapunto stuff on it (if I remember correctly).
