Lynn,
Please keep us posted. You're so lucky to have such a group. I have a smaller, informal working partnership with a good friend and we try to do a $1,000 event once a year. Must be nice to have a monthly group! $325 is a lot of money. Way to go!
knitnoid,
Sounds like you're progressing well with your efforts. Do you have a farmer's market on weekends? Quilt raffles sell pretty well at our farmer's markets.

I'll have to check into the Farmer's Market idea. The club is in another town, so I'm not sure what all they have. I know there's a big Pumpkin Festival in Oct, but that costs $75 to get a booth, so it's out. I'll check with some of the ladies who live there.

Re: Question about quilt raffles for charity
We do many benefit activities a year but not always once a month. We do have a club business meeting once a month though and we do a lot of the planning for upcoming events during those meetings.
I have decided that for now I have too many UFOs so once they are done I'll come back to this idea. I'll be checking this thread to get ideas for selling/marketing so please keep posting updates on your raffles and quilt sales!

Re: Question about quilt raffles for charity
A member of one of my quilt guilds brought a quilt tonight to share. It's to benefit MS and she was selling tickets. They were $2 or 3 for $5. I bought 6.
Cross those fingers ladies. If I win it'll be the first quilt I've ever owned. (and it's GORGEOUS)

Re: Question about quilt raffles for charity
When our guild raffled a quilt, we were able to set up a booth in local groceries, craft shows, etc. Be careful w/ church festivals unless you don't mind being connected with a certain faith. Also, check state laws regarding raffles. I found out that in Ky. one can no longer sell 6 for $5 or whatever. That is considered gambling. Also, you will need to have the item finished to set up in the booth. More people will buy if they see the finished product.
