Re: JANUARY 1, 2008 SEW-IN
I have just given my machine a thorough cleaning and a new needle.... she is so happy. And I am ironing fabric I bought last year, I am thinking of doing a Jacobs ladder but am not sure....I have also washed the fabric I bought yesterday and will get it all ironed today.... I want to make a blue and white bear paw. I would also like to find a way to use up all of those miss matched fat quarters I have.
Any time I want to try a new pattern I make a block with my fat quarters.... weather they match or not.... I save all of these blocks and someday will put them together and have a miss matched ugly quilt, and it will probably be my favorite.
happy 2008 to all of you.
Chriss

WOW Evie, I really feel honored to be invited to a BOM from the egg money quilt book/dvd.
I can give it a try, but......I am not a very good quilter/piecer yet.
I would Love to do those, but am hessitant....pffffff...LOL my heart just jumped into my thraot, well....would I hurt anyone if I would mess it up?
Jeff's quilt that I'm machine quilting right now is going very smooth. First time I'm working with wool batting. Since it's a more masculine quilt I will do mainly stich in the ditch and maybe a cable pattern on the wide border..

Been stitchin all day. Am just taking a break right now. I just finished my Lotto blocks, so can mark that off the list. After I let this "pore Ole back' rest a little I'm going to cut my Jan. charms. I got all the house work done very early so I could spend the day doing what I wanted to do.
Marilynsgrammy, I do the same as you, always make a sample block to se how I like it. I have two big boxes full and am planning this year to make quilt tops of them. I call them my orphan blocks. Since they are all different sizes I expect it's going to be a challenger to put them together.
So I guess I am officially at the sew in. Let's have fun tonight. It will be hard to beat Saturday but we can try.....

I like to also make practice blocks. Here's a quilt I put together from practice blocks. I backed it with fleece. It was originally for the play room, now it's just an extra TV quilt.

Very pretty, Evie! I'm still working through my stash, trying to sort out anything smaller than a FQ, and FQs and yardage. I'm cutting up some of my smaller pieces to use, and trying to get the sewing area sorted out properly so I have more room.

Love the quilt Evie.
Boy my blonde moments seem to come more and more frequently. I cut out Quillows for all of my grandkids in May and made three and put the others away to do after the holidays. Well, I got them out and could not remember what the plan was for them. I just spent several hours playing with the pieces for the pillow part to figure out how I planned to put it together. Boy I'm telling you getting old and being blonde to boot, not a good combination. ROFL

Evie love your quilt!
Since I don't have to worry about washing fabrics for the French Rose Swap I decided to start cutting the pieces out. I have one more section to go and all the foundation squares to cut out. Right now I am only worried about making the 20 swap blocks so I can get them out of the way.
Threw washed fabric into the dryer and putting in more to wash.

I'm going to start working on my French Roses again soon. I have the leaves on and the first round sewen and the back cut out. I 'm just getting started sewing on the second round. I have the last round cut out because I wanted to use the butterfly fabric I bought for each block and I figured the best way to show them off was to fussy cut them and put them on last.
I am seriously sad today. DH had to go back to OH and I miss him so much already that it hurts. No pity party, please. I knew this would be a hard day, we've been together all but 7 days of December so it's almost like starting over again. OK, enough of that. I'll pull on my big girl panties and suck it up. He'll be home again on Jan 15th, the night before my surgery, and be home for 5 days!!!! Something good to look forward to! Thank you all for listening.

Re: JANUARY 1, 2008 SEW-IN
Hi Ladies - Will be popping in and out tonight. Today I have been cutting charms for the January and February swap. Started an applique BOM from fatcatpatterns.com / this is the one I'm doing http://www.fatcatpatterns.com/baltimore ... _blues.htm Like I really needed something else to start!! I will be just fusing it and sewing around the edges, no hand work for me
