freebies for non profit groups!

Post by Abbigail » Tue May 27, 2008 10:27 am

Here is a fabric shop that will donate odds and ends of fleece to non profit groups. Check it out to see if maybe your group can receive some of these freebies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our selection of bolt ends has grown to over 1000 selections of novelty, NFL, college, fleece and tradition fabrics.

We have a huge amount of fleece bolt ends with an average size of 1 yard. We will donate these fleece pieces at no charge to any 501(c) non-profit organizations that have a use for them and are able to pay for shipping. You must provide documentation of your non-profit status. For more details please call as at 618-662-3391 between 7am – 3pm CST.

Bear Paw Quilt Co.
117 W North Ave
Flora, Illinois 62839

I hope this is alright to post here. ~Abbigail~

Thanks Abbigail for posting this. I will check with one organization that I know of. Sure could use this to make blankets for others. I would like to make quilts for the Nursing Homes and VA here...but I don't know of a 501.

Edited for clarafication. ;o)

Thanks for posting. I've passed it on to a friend who manages a non-profit.

Thanks! I forwarded this to my guild member that is in charge of Community Service. This year we are making quilts for our local fire dept. etc.

I am starting a group for underpriviledged girls this fall. Most of them have little or no self esteem and or pride. I am hoping that this group will help them. They are 5th graders in a very low income part of town. I would welcome any and all suggestions that are out there. I am not a teacher, just someone that likes to sew and quilt and I thought this might help them. SUGGESTIONS ANYONE?

If you are seeking ideas on patterns to start with, you could start with just simple squares sewn together to make a lap quilt, pot holders, or even placemats. These could possibly be sold to a school staff group, a community group ( we have several here: The Junior League, The Lions Club, or a fund raiser at a shopping center), the money that is earned could buy more material and supplies or clothing, personal items and such.

May God bless you in this endeavor. If the girls know that you care their self esteem will grow too.

Welcome to the forum too!!! :o)
