Foundation piecing

A friend sent me a packet of small foundation-pieced patterns to be used as Christmas ornaments and dang it! Now I am hooked! They are so cute and work up pretty quickly now that I am getting the hang of the technique. So far I have made a birdhouse, an American flag, and a ship at sea. I am thinking about hanging them in our front window.
Messy technique, though! Lots of little snippets and tiny scraps all over the floor and it uses a lot of thread! Can't stop, though, it's too much fun....!

I just paper pieced some hearts... It took me a few tries to remember how to do it, but it is fun isn't it?
Hope you post a picture, I would like to see them they sound really neat

I paper piece most blocks. I convert the blocks to foundation patterns in EQ5. I paper piece even the simple blocks like Rail Fence. I like the perfect accuracy with not much fuss. I've learned to have a trash can right next to me!

I was vacuuming this morning and thought I wonder if DH could set up the vaccum hose by the machine so all I had to do was drop all my thread and pieces into the hose? If it wasn't for the noise factor it would be worth a try. LOL

To add to the list of my little ornaments: a candle, a Christmas tree, and a coffee mug with a fussycut snowman on it! I went really nuts and hand-stitched little French knots on the tree to look like lights...good grief, I have really lost it now!
I like this technique because it makes it easy to piece itty bitty little pieces without cutting them out just so...
I also experimented with paper versus "tear away" stabilizer and the paper tears away a LOT easier! The stabilizer yanked out some of my stitches

but the sheerness made it some easier to work with.
Will definitely be doing more with this technique!

For the smaller paper piecing projects I use water soluable paper. It's so much easier then picking out the tiny pieces. Also the new Stable Stuff is great to paper piece small projects and just leave it in.
