Hummingbird Fabric

Does anyone know where I can find a beautiful hummingbird print?

I have to say up front that I am very particular about Hummingbird fabric. I don't care much for the cartoonish, or unrealistic looking hummingbirds. I'm not much of a fan of Laurel Birch either. I want a very realistic shaped bird, colors can vary, but not 'cutesy'. One big no-no is the round-headed birds that I see so often. I know, I know, I'm picky. **sigh** Sorry.

Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Nancy

How about Northcott's State Bird series? I've got some but I'm not sure about Hummingbirds. I'll check, Amei

How about copying a pic of a hummer on to the printable fabric sheets. That way you would absolutely get a realistic hummer or a dozen. How are you going to use the hummer fabric???

There are different 'stiffnesses' and the ones I've used are very dense which are fine I think for labels and maybe an applique on a jacket. I think its a trial and error sort of thing unless someone else can suggest a specific mfg. Best of luck with it!

Timeless Treasure (QIAD has it) is what I used for my consignment quilt (which all on her recommended) and it worked great. The thread count is high so you need to make sure you sew once because it does leave holes when you un-sew. That was the only thing I found funky about it. Probably these filled in when it was washed.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hummingbird,
I have some machine embroidery hummingbird designs. I have a set of crosstitched birds with flowers. I have used them before and used DMC cotton thread. They are beautiful. If I can help in anyway, please let me know.

HB, I've been going thourhg my back issues of Quilts With Style adn found some great paper-pieced hummingbirds in May/June 2005, issue #52. If you go to the website (quiltswithstyle.com) you could see if they still have that issue available.

Have you looked on Ebay? I found a few by searching for "Hummingbird fabric".

This one is 4 panels that look like photographs.

Thanks everybody!

I found my computer fabric sheets. They're made by June Tailor.

One problem. It says not to wash them and that the items have to be dry cleaned.

Have any of you used this kind and washed it anyway? Thanks!
