Just discovered a use for those long, skinny scraps of material. I use pinking shears on both sides, make them about 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide and use them as ribbons to tie small packages. They even look nice on unwrapped things.

I bought some fabric at the quilt shopp in Charleston South Carolina last weekend and they tied my bag of fabric with the scraps. It looks really nice they didn't even clean them up and I can use the fabric too! Yes free fabric!!!

Oh! I was in Charleston in March and was probably in the same shop! People, Places & Quilts? I love Charleston. We took all the 'haunted' tours of the area. If you are ever there don't pass up those. They were loads of fun and full of history about the town. I bought a quilt kit for the Charleston III, after I saw the quilt hanging in the shop.

What a unique and great idea! It would even look better than the rubber bands I have on my fabric collections. I an being anul these days but just organized some of my fabric together by the collection they came from. I couldn't think of anyway to put them together so I just used those big, thick rubber bands that come on asperagus or broccoli. Love this idea and will swap out the rubber bands with fabric strips!
Thanks for the tip!

If you have long skinny strings, make a string quilt. If they are too skinny for that, you can sandwich them between two pieces of black fabric and make chneil (I'm sure that is misspelled. just pronounce it phonetically.) Make the chneil into a vest or jacket.

Rose ~ That is a wonderful idea. I am very excited about using it for my next gift. I usually buy ribbon and then tie it but I love pinked edges on fabric and this will be such fun to use for holiday goodies.
Happy stitching!!

I buy the brown or white papers sacks, used for lunches. Or at least they once were. I have a hole puncher, and fold lip of bag over, put 2 holes, evenly a couple inches from the top, and put my string fab. through.
You can tie on a lot of strings, and even put a sticker or stamp the front.
