Has anyone made a quilt with Keepsake Calico Fabric from Jo Ann's Fabric shop? Do you like it?

I have used it for a lot of sewing projects, aprons, stockings etc as wallhangings and lap quilts. it has been fine with me.

Make sure you wash the fabric before sewing. This fabric tends to shrink. Before you wash your fabric, use pinking shears or a pinking rotary blade to cut each end of the fabric. You won't have all those thread balls.

Years ago I used fabric from JoAnn's so I'm sure I used the fabric you are talking about. So far all of my quilts have held up well so....

My current bed quilt is from Joann's as is the Flying Geese that's I posted in the Photos forum and have had no trouble. Linda's right; you definitely have to wash their fabric but their quality has improved in the past couple of years. Trying to keep up with the quilt shop competition I think.

I like moda too but cannot always find it near me or afford it all the time as most of my stuff is for kids they would not take care of it for the cost

I am afraid to use Jo Ann's fabrics as they just did not last for me. I might have to take a look again and see how it feels. I usually buy QS quality fabric on sale. I have a favorite place in Shipshewana, Ind that has good prices everyday. Yoders

Joanne's has good and bad fabric I think. What I look for is the bolt that is $8.99 and has the quilters premium purple sticker on it. I use a coupon for 40 per cent off or buy it when it is 40 per cent off.

This fabric is really a nice quality and has a good hand. I prewash everything after seeing a friend with a ruined quilt.

There are some other good ones but you must be very careful. As you progress on your quilt making journey you will get better at determining
what is a quality fabric.

Shipping to me from QIAD is expensive.
