I must be crazy
But I decided to cut my scraps into usable sizes after reading an article about it. Made sense that having the cutting done would make it easier to get started on scrap quilt projects. But man! Who knew how long this would take; I've done 1.5" strips (in preparation for a Log Cabin), 1.5" squares, 2.5" strips and 2.5" squares (for a pattern called Chiclets I found on line). I only have one small plastic box left and then I need to sort into light and dark. It may save time in the future but I'm not too sure I'd be able to do this again.

Bet that is time consuming. But how nice to have it done. Maybe from here on out, just as you are cutting out projects, also cut out any usable pcs you are saving.

Re: I must be crazy
I cut my scraps right after I complete a quilt. That way they are ready to use whenever.

You will probably be very glad you took the time to do all that.

I also cut up any useable scraps into strips or squares as soon as I finish a project. I have plastic bins marked 2 1/2, 3 1/2, etc. and just put them away. When I see a pattern with any of these measurements it is easy to just pull out that bin.

Re: I must be crazy
Hopefully I will take the time from now on to do this as I cut for other projects. Thought I was almost done, then discovered the double sized bin with the blues in it! Oh well, it will be very nice to be ready for my next scappy project, which I think will be a Log Cabin. Always wanted to do one of those.
Thanks for helping me see this actually might have been a sane thing to do right now

Re: I must be crazy
I have a large bin full of scraps that need to be cut down but I keep putting it off. I guess it is always easier to buy more fabric than to utilize the scraps I already have. This month is going to be financially tight so I guess I will start off by cutting those strips and coming up with some patterns to use them up.

Mine are not cut into strips or squares, just in a box all together. I shoul be more organized so I can pull something together quickly.

I'm always afraid that if I cut something I'll need it in a bigger size then what I have. So I leave it uncut and try to store it neatly.
