Fabric Kits

I would like to know if the fabric kits that you buy have a fudge factor in it. I am a newby and I know I will make mistakes along the way. So if I want to make a project should I buy 2 sets "just in case" or does it have extra for that?

Thanks,
Audrey

I think you need to email customer service about that. But that is a good question that we would all like the answer to. So, email them and then let the rest of us know. I didn't even thing about this one before. I could probably earn the title of Queen of Miscuts!

Any kit I have ever bought had ample fabric to allow for mistakes. And believe me, I have bought a LOT of kits. (Don't ask me if I have made them all up LOL). In fact, some are so generous that I wish they would cut smaller pieces and maybe make the price a little less. I have literally made 2 quilts just a bit smaller than the instructions from 1 kit (more than once). I made a quilt for my granddaughter plus a doll quilt from one kit and still have a bunch of fabric left.

Hi Audrey,
Welcome to the Forum, we are all happy to have you here. I hope you will join in on lots of discussions so we can get to know you.

As to kits, I personally love kits! They are perfectly matched so I don't have to spend hours looking for "just the thing."

Most of the QIAD kits do have extra fabric included. We call them "Yardage Kits" because they are not cut to size, you actually get yardage. It makes it easier so if you make a mistake, there is usually enough fabric to correct your error. also, if it is a QIAD kit, you can usually call Customer Service and get extra fabric if there is an error.

Glad you are here!
Linda

Every QIAD kit I have done has had extra fabric in it. I just love it! My URR kit actually had enough to do a quilt top with 12 inch squares and almost enough to do one with 6 inch squares. How much fun is that!!!!

I have been working with a "Block of the Month" that I bought last year - never worked on last year but have finished one block and onto the second.

So far, I have no problem with fabric.

Think if I did, I would try to find a place online through www.fabhopshop.com to find a shop that might still sell the fabric.

I only bought one kit, and if I had made a mistake there would not have been enough fabric to finish it.

I did buy another kit, of a floral beautiful quilt, but haven't started that one yet. I saw the one on display at the quilt shop and just had to buy the kit!

Eleanor's kits are really great. She told me she would rather the quilter get a little more fabric and walk away happy rather than they get home and they are a little short on fabric.

I WONDERED ABOUT THAT ALSO. IT IS GOOD TO KNOW YOU HAVE EXTRA OR CAN PURCHASE MORE IF NEEDED.
