Closing fabric shops

Post by DarleneElaine » Mon Jun 18, 2007 6:50 am

Well Jo Ann's fabric shops are still here, and some of their cotton fabric is good expecially some of the holiday fabric. I mean some not all.

I guess we will have to either buy on line or find a good quilt shop in our area or a store that has quilting material along with their other things for sale.

Hancocks had a lot of nice fabric for clothing, and I am very sad that they are gone.

Lets all get together and list good places to buy material on line.

boltoverquiltfabrics.com
gotfabric.com
fabric.com
to name 3 I search on a regular basis. To get a list of many online sites sign up to do a shop hop at
fabshophop.com, even when they don't have a hop going on they have lists of shops on the site.

I shop all the sales on the online quilting sites. There are hundreds of them and always a sale when I need it. And many offer free shipping sometimes. I've found I can get quality fabric shopping online sales cheaper than the fabric line from JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby or Walmart. QUID has great fabric prices and you now exactly what you are getting.

Darlene Elaine, etc

There is a wonderful magazine called Piecework, that has been out for a few years. They had issued a few copies before I found it and then ordered their back copies.

Use to purchase the magazine at a pharmacy/gift shop near here and have not seen in on the newstands for months. Called our magazine people here in town and they say the co. is not sending the mag. anymore to them for distribution.

Have written them...but nothing so far.

Even some of the JoAnn stores are closing. My sister in law in Ohio work at one for years and they closed it last fall. I guess they want all their stores to be super stores and some towns are just out of luck. She was ready to retire so that part wasn't so bad but I feel bad for the town because now they just have wal mart. I don't think there are even any quilt shops in town.

Here I am new at this and spouting off.

I buy a lot of fabric on line. I just got 50 fat quarters of Windham civil war fabric for $46. from Ebay I felt like a kid in a candy store.

I buy fabric that I have used such as Moda, Michael Miller, Aunt Grace.

If I was not happy with any of my purchases it was because I read something wrong.
