Welcome! I agree that Log Cabin is an easy quilt for a beginner, also 4-patches are easy too.

Just got my garden lattice quilts book I ordered. Has anyone here made this quilt? I bought some blue rose flowers a while back for the appliques. ( I love blue) Now I `m not sure what fabric color to use for the windows....any ideas would be welcome...thanks

Try split-rail fence - can't get much easier than that!
You cut long strips of fabric the same width and then sew 3 strips together the long way. Whatever the width of these long strips - you cut them crosswise that width to form square blocks. Then arrange your blocks horizontally & vertically. You could use scraps or make a patriotic Red, White & Blue!
Good luck!

Eajosian,
I've mad two of the garden lattice quilts. They go together very quickly and they are so nice! I use a blue fabric that gradated from very light to very dark blue for the sky of one of my quilts. I put the lighter fabric at the bottom and the darker at the top, kind of a twilight effect.
