Windmill template

Post by jJD » Wed Apr 27, 2016 6:27 pm

I have a windmill template. I have lost the instructions. the template is 10inches square. Can you please tell me how much bigger than the template the fabric needs to be cut. Also how to calculate the amount needed for the borders. Thanks jenny

Jenny, there is no steadfast rule. Personally I like my applique to have about 1 1/2 or two inches of fabric around my windmill.

I also would be sure to make the background fabric an extra inch bigger than the block size you need because when you sew the windmill down it will cause the background to shrink a bit.

Good luck with your project.
