Mixing fabric types in quilts????
Is it okay to mix fabric types in quilts. A dear friend of mine lost her husband a while back. She gave me some of his Pendleton shirts to make his daughter (her step daughter) a comfort quilt. There are not enough to make a complete quilt just out of the shirts. So I was wondering; is it acceptable to use cotton and wool together in the same quilt? Any and all help/suggestions welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have used different types of fabric in a quilt. Not sure about wool. Sometimes it has to be drycleaned.

I would take a page from our great grannies.......they used anything they had handy....and I have several of those quilts still going strong all these years later.

I would go for it! My mom had a quilt that was made from wools, cottons, silks, laces, and other fabrics. It was beautiful!! And yours will be, too.

With curdoroy it has the fray factor, so maybe make a wider seam, of course the heavier fabrics will maybe last through time more than another nxt to it.. I tried fortrell once cz that was the trend back in the day.. Boy is that fabric hard to stitch by hand.

Have never done this before. with the rich fabric of Pendelton I would use a good quality of wool to match colors, etc.
