I'm new at quilting and I'm making my first block quilt. How do you keep it that your seams line up an match when you are putting together you quilt. I press all of the time, but I remember reading or seeing somewhere about startching your pieces. Any truth to that?

I use the best press to press my quilt blocks sometimes I just use steam. They sell best press at Quilt In A Day you can just put best press in the search box at the top of this page.
It's really a mild spray starch and smells good too. Bev

I sometimes spray starch to give the piece stability. Keeps from getting wonky.

Best Press is wonderful - yes it does work to starch your pieces are you sew - but more important is not to stretch them as you press them open - use a up and down motion to press - not like you are trying to get rid of stubborn wrinkles - it doesn't take much to stretch them out of shape.
