In order to help make you borders lay flat, cut your strips the width you want them. Then measure down the center of your quilt with a strip of fabric and cut it that length. Then mark the half point with a pin and center on one side of the quilt. Pin eash end to the quilt and continue pinning the entire lenght. Sometimes the strip will be a little shorter or longer but ease it in. Now do the other side the same way. Sew and Press. Then cut your top an bottom bordrs, measure across the quilt in the center with these border strips and cut. do the same as the sides and your borders should never be wavy. Hope this helps/.

I have found if I cut my borders with the length of the fabric instead of cross (WOF) it doesn't stretch. It might take a little more fabric, but I just add that to my scrappy stash. Also, using a dry iron instead of steam reduces stretch when making blocks.

I know it's hard to pick up and finish a project but you can do it. Both advice here is great..just unsew and consider it a learning experience..you can do this..
did you see the same problem in the quilting techniques thread??
