Hi,
Anyone have any suggestion about how to attach the felt animal alphabet pages to make a book I am making for my great-grandchild for Christmas? Would the felt tear if I made a hole and put them on a round keyring?

since it's a book can you put some kind of binding down one side to act as the books backing... then maybe sew down the outside of the backing, through all layers... so that you make a crease?
I think a hole would tear unless you put a gromet of somekind on each hole oh, or you could maybe sew the inside of the hole...like a button hole???
let us know what you end up doing...

Dear Marilynsgrammy,
Thanks for the ideas.
I could use the binding if there weren't so many pages (I put A for ant on one side of a 6" piece of felt and B for bunny on the other side making 13 pages)
The gromet and buttonhold ideas might work. I will let you know what I do. I had thought about using a thick yarn.
I have finished the pages up to I-J and it looks good so far. K will be a koala and L will be a lamb. I have had a lot of luck find good images on the internet. I am stumped on the letters N, U, and X,

if using the grommets - re-enforce the hole area - this will help in not tearing - do it on both sides of the hole. Or add a strip of fabric and attach the felt on it - then sew it into the book.
I have made many quiet books in my life and I like the grommets the best - it is easier for the child to turn the pages and you can make several more pages and change them in and out - that way the book is not boring - the same week after week in Church!!
n - nut - necktie?
x - xylophone - like the child's fisher price toy one
u - umbrella

I will be using grommets. Our WM has discontinued most of their sewing/crafting items and our Hancock and other fabric stores have moved out of my area, so it will be Christmas before I find them. :)The N, U and X need to be animals.....
