Embroidered letters - I need help

Post by cindyg » Wed Jan 07, 2009 7:47 am

When I embroider letters with my sewing machine there is a stitch or two in between each letter. Am I suppose to cut those out or leave them there?

Sometimes I cut the thread and sometimes I don't.
Depends on if I think the stitching will pull out. Marge

If I am doing a name... I will leave them most of the time if they are not too distracting... But if initials only, cut them out.
Guess it is just which way you like them best.

Mic-pa - that's exactly what I'm afraid of - that my letters will start unravelling if I cut those threads. I hope someone can tell us for sure.

I usually trim the thread. It usually does a lock stitch before doing those stitches. I have, once or twice, felt like it might ravel. In those cases, I pulled the thread to the backside and put a dot of FrayCheck on it.

If the thread is noticable, I trim it and put a dot of Fray Block (by June Taylor) on it. I also cut any loopies in my embroidery and use the Fray Block.

I cut them. My machine does a little backstitch when it jumps from one place to another. I think they are sometimes really hard to cut. Jo Ann

Thanks for the info. I'll cut and use Fray Check.
