Jan, if you mean painting for craft projects and not anything highbrow, well, I don't have a lot of experience, but...

In 2005, I made 4th of July t-shirts for my girls. I fused a flag in the center of the shirt with Heat N Bond Lite. I put a line of glitter paint around the edge of the flag to seal it down. Then I painted the year under the flag, and did a bunch of different colored things that look like fireworks exploding all 'round the flag.

My youngest really loves hers, wears it sometimes once a week...it has been machine washed and dried endlessly, smooshed at the bottom of a washbasket or tote bag...and the paint still looks great.

The label says it's Scribbles brand. Comes in a little squeeze bottle. I used the 3D glitter kind, so it came out a bit puffy. It was easy to use and, again, has held up well through several years of wear.

Hope this helps! Happy crafting!

Mickey Lawler is a well known fabric artist--I have one of her books. See if your library has it or others that you can use.
