spongy fabric? neoprine?

Post by quiltwithmom » Mon Sep 08, 2008 3:06 pm

I hate asking a question like this on a quilt site. I am hoping that many of you do other crafts. I want to make a laptop bag and I am looking for that spongy type fabric. Do you know what I mean? neoprine(sp?) comes to mind. Do you know where I can get it? Do you think Joannes or Michaels? You can PM me if you do not want to leave a link here. I have tried searching the net but since I really don't know what it is called I am meeting deadends.

Try doing a google search for "purchase neoprene" and see what pops up.

If you have a dive shop in the area, ask about getting an old dive suit to cut up for fabric.

Sewbug, that is a great idea! I'm sure sometimes the shops get one or two that are defective or have been returned. Should be on clearance this time of year, maybe?

Hancock Fabrics used to have it. It's been a long time since I was looking, but check out the upholstery area. Not the nice stuff on rollers up front, but at the back where they have vinyl for chair cushions, etc.
