I do like to quilt with invisible thread. I have read the post about
invisible thread and appreciated the information. However, I want to know if the quilts quilted with invisible thread will last when washed often such as a baby quilt? will the thread stretch or break?

I belong to a group who make for the neonatal ward for the local hospital. We are requested not to use invisible thread, only pure cotton. That being so, I never use it on any other baby quilts I make. In fact, I have got so used to using cotton for quilting I rarely use invisible any more and I was a real fan at one point.

I really prefer cotton to quilt, it makes the quilt so soft and cuddley.

Invisible thread will stretch and it does break. I found that cotton works best because it holds up (100 year old quilts still around)

The invisilbe thread many use is the stiff kind, not the soft, so any broken thread can really hurt a newborn if the end pokes the skin.

Oh, I wish had seen this before I made my applique blocks the other days, using invisible thread...

I use Monopoly by Superior. It's a poly thread, not nylon. Very safe for babies, soft, doesn't yellow, break, shrink, crack or produce pokies. I love the stuff, Amie )

quilterbee, that's the brand I use too. It's great. When it comes to invisible thread, you get what you pay for is so true.
