when do you square up your quilt top

when do you square up your quilt top
does every one square up there top after they have it all put together ( the top) or do you quilt it then square it up before you put binding on it

I check it a couple of times just to make sure it's staying squared up. I would check after completing the quilt top before sandwiching it and quilting, and then again after quilting when I trim away the extra batting and backing and sew the binding on.

I do both. Like to know that the sides are equal before I layer it to quilt. Then I square it up again before I put the binding on. I usually cut my last border about an inch wider than I really want it to be, just so I can square the quilt up and not lose any length or width that I really want.

I do the same as Gmaann - make the borders a little larger. I square them up before quilting and then after quilting. So far I've managed to have pretty square results.
