another stupid question about backings

Has anyone ever used the printed quilt design quilt tops for a backing? I have a double wedding ring piece of fabric that I was going to use as a top but changed my mind. Now I wonder what it would look like as a backing for another top. Would that be totally ugly? If the theme of the top is way off from the wedding ring ...would that matter? See I told you it was stupid questions! LOL! ~Abbigail~

Not a stupid question. Sounds like a good idea to me. Can't be ugly, you would only see one side at a time.

There are NO stupid questions here! Someone else may be wondering the same thing, but afraid to ask.

I think it's a splended idea.

Hi, if it's 100% cotton, go for it! It would be like reversible :o) Many of the cheater tops are NOT 100% cotton, so be sure to test it. If it is, DWR will be a great backing! Amie :o)

Abbigail, I am the Queen of stupid questions, and this is not one of them!
I think it would be a great idea. Like Amie said, a reversible quilt!

Sounds like a grand idea!! How about if you quilted it from the back? I have seen some of the quilting when you use the print on the backing for the design. Stunning!

No question is a stupid question. Anyway, I will buy these types of wide patterns to keep on hand.just for that reason.
