I started Underground Railroad QIAD.

Post by sewbug » Sat Apr 19, 2008 10:13 am

My guild picked the Underground Railroad quilt as the year's members project. Any member who wants to make one meets after the quild program and works on their quilt. I am cutting out all the blocks at home and sewing them at the meetings. The guild bought all of QIAD's rulers and that is so nice to have the one you need for any of El's books. Many of us have some of the QIAD rulers so there isn't any waiting to use the ones we don't have. Just thought I'd share what I'm working on lately.

Sounds really good that your guild bought some of the rulers. That's really nice. I would do some different things if I didn't have to go buy a special ruler or tool to do it. Espically if you are only going to use it once. We'll be looking for pictures!

Kinda quite on here today, isn't it? ;)

I have that book and I'm so eager to make it, but have so many other projects going, maybe in the fall! Abigail, maybe next year you'll be able to arrange to have off from work so that you can attned at least some of Paducah. If at all possible, I'm gonna be there. And fabricgirl and sarahjane and kathysquilt, maybe, maybe. I'm working on it. carol/kittyquilt

The Underground Railroad Quilt was the project for the year in one of the quilt clubs that I belong to. I have one more block to make. We are supposed to have it all put together by the first fall meeting. It has been a fun quilt to make. Not sure how I am going to set it together . I need to make a decision so I can get some border fabric.

I have made the Underground Railroad quilt top as a wall hanging, but I laid it aside so i could make a Civil War Reproduction quilt for my son who is a Confederate Civil War re-enactor. His unit is participating at the Gettysburg re-enactment this year and I promised it i would be ready. The pattern I am using is called Blue Moon of Kentucky and he lives in Kentucky so I felt it was the perfect pattern. I am going to be there to see him and my quilt. I am a Civil War "junkie" so this means a lot to me. When I get back to my Underground
Railroad quilt it will hang on my wall with my Civil War paintings. I love to hear about what patterns all of you are working on.

Quiltmom, I don't know how to post pictures, so I shouldn't ask, but I'd love to see photos of both quilts as you finish them.
