Embroidered Quilt Blocks: Quilting Them

Post by 1quiltinnana » Wed Apr 02, 2008 3:27 pm

How would you quilt the embroidered quilt blocks? Do you quilt stitch over the embroidery work or only quilt around each item in the block? Suggestions please. Thank you!

I don't think I would stitch over the embrodery. I think it will depend on what the embroidered design is...maybe just run a line of stitching 1/4" away from the outside edge of the embrodiered design.
Just my two cents.

I either Echo or meander around the embroidery!

Cheers!

Oh don't quilt over the embroidery! Please:) After all that work it would be a shame. Here are some closeups of one of my embroidered block quilts. I think the key is no matter what you do in the enter block get pretty close to the embroidery to make it lay nice and flat.

1QN - you must be getting close if you are asking questions about how to quilt it. WOO HOO
SFO - this quilt you did is one of my all time favorites. It's just beautiful.

Thanks .....Your advice has helped me a lot. I love that Embroidered Quilt you shared photos of with us, SFO!! Beautiful! Did you machine embroidery it and quilt it on a Long Arm? It is so pretty.

SFO quilter:

What length stitch do you use on the white part of your quilt? It is just what I am looking for.
