I am new to quilting and have saw reference to "tonal fabric". How is this different from regular fabric?

I think tonal is the same thing as tone-on-tone fabric but I could be wrong. It won't be the 1st time - LOL. Tone-on-tone is, for instance, green fabric with green leaves on it in a color close to the background so that from a distance it looks like a solid.

I agree with cindyg on the definition of "tonal fabric".

A tonal, to me, acts as a solid and can be used as a blender.
