I have those big spools of thread for a serger and I want to use them on my regular machine is there a way to adapt it?
Thanks in advance

I bought cone spool adapters, usually two to a package, but the best way is to use the free standing spool holder. The serger spools are heavy and awkward for the machine spindle using the adapter.

Put your cone into a coffee cup and sit it right behind your machine and behind the spool holder. Tape a closed safety pin to the back/top corner and thread as usual(running the thread through the safety pin, too). I used this system for cones before I bought my Janome 6500. Works great, Amie :o)

Bernina has one of these spool holders that goes on the back of the machine. It holds about 15 spools. It is just wonderful when you have many colors for the embro machine. But, the larger spools will fit on it also for regular sewing. I really keep it there all the time. For a singer machine that I use, it has a separate spool holder that I have to hold it. cheap compared to the other. But, I use them both.

Clotilde has a thread cone stand on sale for $7.48. Joann's also carries a plastic one. I bought one from Clotilde about 18 years ago and I'm still using it. It really is handy!! The website is www.clotilde.com HTH

I used to use an empty spool inside a cone, and used the upright holder on the machine... always works well for me.

I found something called a Deelybob on Keepsakequilting.com so I could use larger thread spools when quilting. It's been great so far. Kinda like the name, too. Makes me giggle.

A friend of mine had her hubby make us some adapters for the large thread cones, he took a 5/8 inch wooden dowel and drilled a hole in the bottom that would fit over the spool holder on the machine, works great, and cheap to make :)
