Re: Sorting your stash
i sort by project, color, type and catagory
for example when collecting for a specific project or if i have the fabric for a project i keep it with the pattern, sketch, notes etc all tied in one bundle
for the most part the rest is by color reds, whites, blues and so one but then i have categories
for example holiday, orientals, 1800 reproductions, 1930 reproductions, florals, and landscapes - bark, grass, sky, storm, water, and so on
then i also sort by type all cottons, silks, brocades, tulles, satins, lames and so on

Re: Sorting your stash
I sort by holiday - Christmas fabrics together, fall fabrics together, etc. Novelty fabrics together. Then I sort the rest of my fabric by color. The fabrics I buy to make a certain quilt I wash, dry and fold it all then stack it up and tie it together with ribbon and set it aside on a shelf. I don't have much of a stash though compared to some people here.
