Welcome JudyT, she just came on here tonight and requested the pattern for the pin cushion. I couldn't find it on here so sending a new one in case some one else wants it and haven't printed out before.
FABRIC FLOWER PIN CUSHION
Material list:
Sewing needle & strong thread (does not have to match fabric)
Scissors
Glue Gun
Marking pen or pencil
One 3" card board circle for the base
One 4 1/2 inch pattern circle (paper)
One 5 1/4 Inch pattrn circle (paper)
fiber fill to stuff the center of pin cushion. ( I used batting scraps
Steel Wool (extra fine) to put in middle of fill (center of pin cushion)
One fat quarter or 1/3 yard of material for bottom and leaves
One fat quarter for petals of flower.
One scrap for center (5 1/4 circle)
DIRECTIONS
1.Draw circles on back of fabric and cut out on drawn lines ( I just used the paper as a template)
(8) 5-inch circles and (1) 4 1/2 inch circle from leaf material
(7) 5-inch circles from petal material
(1) 5 1/4 for center (pincushion) of flower
2. Run a large basting stitch arond the 4 1/2 inch circle (base) about 1/4 of an inch from the edge. Insert the 3-inch base and draw close.
3. Leaves: Fold each of the 8 fabrics into quarters to form petals.
sew a basting stitch (about 24 inches doubled) through the folded raw edge at about 1/4 inch from edge. Continue adding each petal to the same thread, starting at the same side of each petal. Draw tightly together, easing the gathers to form a tight circle.Glue to base
4. Petals: fold, sew and gather the 7 petals to form a tight circle and glue to center of leaves.
5. Center (pin cushion)
Run basting stitch around the 5 1/4 fabric circle. Put steel wool in center of fill and stuff. Draw closed to create a firm pin cushion.
You may need to add more fill and it is easier to do if you use a pencil with an eraser to help tuck the fill in cushion.
Glue the pincushion section in the cener of the circle of petals.
Enjoy
