Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam squares
Ok. I just signed up this a.m. and this is my first posting, other than the questions that I have replied to. My question is this...
I dearly love Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam quilts. My problem is that I can't always think of funny things for them to be doing. I make "pictures" of them. One that I remember was Sam, sleeping next to a tree, hat over his face, holding a fishing pole, with a fish on the line, jumping out of the water, waterlily pads with a frog sitting on one. It was really cute. When I go to a fabric store my kids hate to go with me because I can "see" things in fabrics. I might buy the perfect sky fabric or a tree trunk fabric. My kids just can't see it. I use purchased thread appliques. The frog was one, and the fish was one, also dragonflies, flowers, etc. Once I did Sam painting a picket fence and a dog and cat running past him causing the bucket of white paint to spill. I bought fabrics with white spots to make the ruched flowers along the fence, Some of the pickets were white and some were woodgrain (still unpainted) Floral fabric placed behind the pickets looked like someones backyard. I always give away my projects, but now I'd like to start some for my grandchildren for Christmas. I don't want them all to be the same scenes. Anyone got any good ideas? Thanks.

Welcome Joanne!
If you are wanting a big variety of Sue's and Sam's why not join the Sun bonnet Sue Swap over in the swap forum. We will each do 25 and send them to Lynn and she will sort them and send us back 25 different Sue's and Sam's.
BTW, we're practically neighbors. I live about 3 hours south of you. Are you going to the big quilt show in May at Overland Park? I think that's the location.

Welcome Ceil!
Is this what you mean?
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/1080 ... owcss.html
It's called a Quillow. A quilt that folds up into a pillow.
