Cutting question ...

I purchased the "Lattice Work" quilt pattern from QIAD and now have the fabrics for it, but I have a question.

For the first block, one of the pieces (one of 27 in that particular block) is described as being cut like this:

(7) 2-1/2" strips cut into (112) 2-1/2" squares. Then cut on diagonal into (224) triangles.

I understand everything that's saying, but do I cut the strips down the length of the 3 yards of fabric the pattern calls for ... OR do I cut it crosswise from salvage to salvage?

Thanks gals for your help!

Judy you cut the strips selvage to selvage. Post a pic when you get it done...I've thought of getting that pattern.

Thank you Sandy! I thought that was the right way, but wanted to make sure before I cut into my fabric. You should go ahead and get the pattern. It's not going to be hard even though it has the illusion of using curved pieces. It's actually straight sewing. I was wanting something that would tie into our living room and this is perfect.

If some of you haven't seen it, here it is and the fabrics I'll use. The lattice work will be in an off-white.
