Fabric & Quilt Shops in Western MO & Eastern KS
Hi gals,
I am looking for fabric and quilt shops in my part of the country. I see some of you are from Missouri too. Got any advice.
Choosing fabric is my biggest challenge so far, as a new quilter. I see so many beautiful quilts, but when it comes to the design part, my brain goes blank.
I have chosen El's Log Cabin as a gift for my son's wedding. I am thinking of using blues and yellows. But after looking at so many websites, I'm dizzy. Besides I like to actually see and touch the fabric.
So, any of you girls know of some great quilt and fabric shops in this neck of the woods? I live south of KC about 50 miles, but am willing to travel and make a day trip out of it.
Thank you and happy quilting to all.
Linda

Ah- lots of shops in the area - all with different personalities, so it depends on what you are looking for.

I don''''t live in that neck of the woods anymore. (Used to live in Warrensburg for grad school.) If I remember correctly, there was a large, very nice store in Branson. I think it was on the main stretch going through town. We went in their off season and had no problems driving. (I heard during their busy season, driving through town is tough because of all the traffic.)
Good Luck!

I worked at an rv park near Louisburg, KS this summer. They had a really nice little quilt shop right in Louisburg but I don't remember the name of it. The folks working there were so helpful and they had a very nice selection of unusual fabric, my kind of stuff. I never attended any classes but I know they do have them. Louisburg is about 7 miles south of Overland Park and it is a small town so anyone could probably tell you where it is located.

The Louisburg shop is new -- about 18 months old. It's called Needle Nest and is in a yellow Victorian house on the corner of S. 3rd & S. Peoria. They carry both fabric and yarn.

There's a nice shop in Olathe that I've been to with my sister-in-law. It's on the main street going east/west...I think that's Santa Fe St. Sorry can't remember the name. Oh, I think there's one in Lawrence, too.
Ittybittygma, thanks for info on the one in Louisburg. We stay at that campground when we visit family in Olathe. Good RV park. Maybe I'll see you there sometime.
