I have been bitten by the applique bug and I was wondering if there are any sites, books or anything anyone can suggest about applique?

Hi Kathy,
I too have been bitten by that bug, lol. I just love to do applique. The very first applique project I made was Sunbonnet Sue by Eleanor Burns. It is an easy way to learn El's technique for quick turn applique. She also teaches an easy way to to raw edge applique in her book "Magic Vine."

Right now, through April 9, you can watch Eleanor on RDF-TV. She is teaching her method for a Baltimore Album quilt. It is called "Applique in a Day." Now, the name is deceiving, it does take more than a day but it is well worth it! Her technique is wonderful!

A friend of mine taught me her method of applique' using the freezer paper and hand applique' the pieces .....I bought a good instructional book on Applique' (machine and hand work)....these help me a lot. I love doing applique'.....so pretty.

What is the name of the book?
I think appliqued quilts are so pretty.

If I don't use El's method of quick-turn, I use the method at this site: http://users.value.net/pirate/No-Name%2 ... 0Applique/ I don't have to worry about the fabric getting out of alignment while I'm working on it and there are no pins to stick myself with or for the thread to tangle up on. @:)

WOW...what a cool method. I think I could even handle needle turn with this method. I wonder how it works with points and v-shapes.

You're right Grammy. If I take up applique I will certainly try that method.

Diane, For the points, you take the basting thread out beyond the point, fold the point down and fold each side in to form the point. You might have to clip the seam fabric a bit narrower so it 'fits' and doesn't show....just play with it and you'll get the hang of it. I'm still trying to get a true V...so far they are more like a U. @:)
