Re: where do you do your sewing and quilting?
In my bedroom. Not much space to work with; but do make the most of it. My sewing table does have and extension on it, so I have a pressing mat with the little Rowenta Latitude craft iron on there. My son bought me a floor model OTT light, which I have behind the sewing table so it actually offers quite a bit for a little space.

HI, First let me wish everyone a Very Happy New Year. I sew on my dining room table because we no longer eat there (only on occasion) as it is just hubby and me and he would prefer I be near him while he is watching TV> The rest, cutting, fabric storage, notions and books are in the laundry room right off the dining room. He hired a carpenter to put cupboards in there for all my stuff. He got tired of the boxes sitting all around. I also iron in there. We do have two spare bedrooms I could have used but he said no he did not want me hiding upstairs someplace. Isn't he nice. Right now he is in the hospital and I hope to bring him home Wednesday. Its been a long month. Marge in Pa. who is spending new years eve alone. But thats OK as long as he will be home soon.

Re: where do you do your sewing and quilting?
I have 3 empty bedrooms.... since all my kids have moved on...
Sons are married and DD lives in Arizona. Every time I think about moving into a smaller house I wonder where would I put all the stuff I have stored in those bedrooms.
I use youngest DS's bedroom as my sewing room. It's equiped with 3 tables, one for cutting, one for holding junk, and one for my machine, my ironing board and My TV. I used to have a table up on my porch as well, where I could cut fabric while watching TV, but I'm trying to at least keep my Upstairs relatively "fabric free" so that all my mess is confined to one area... It ain't easy, as I now have quilt magazines and notebooks full of patterns all over the porch. It's a heated porch so that's my "home" most evenings after a long day at work!
Oldest son's old bedroom is my "scrapbooking room" When I was big into that (and should get back into it) I bought every scrapbooky thing I could find---now where would I put ALL that stuff If I moved to a smaller house!! LOL
DD's room I try to keep as a guest room for when she comes home, tho she usually ends up sleeping on the porch couch when she's here. However, a great deal of my fabric stash has over flowed to that room as well. There's an empty dresser in there that is rapidly filling up with QIAD fabric!!
I do dread the day I have to move.... In 3 years I'll either have to refinance my house or sell it and move. I AM not looking forward to it!!

I have 2 rooms!
#1 is 17x18, cutting, piecing, pressing stations and design wall.
#2 is about 12x14 or so, not sure. My frame and builtins are in there for my bolts and folds.

Re: where do you do your sewing and quilting?
When we bought the house I was not into sewing or quilting so not having an extra room didn't bother me. A year after starting quilting I knew I needed a room of my own. I kicked the kids and DH out of the den and took that over. I told the kids I was the parent and when they were grown up they could pay for their on tv room to hang out. I told DH he could share his shop space with my quilting or keep the den. I got the den. Now that all but one child has left the nest, I have several empty rooms to pick as my sewing room but I like the den, it's bigger.

Re: where do you do your sewing and quilting?
When we first moved into this house, I had the larger of the two spare bedrooms for my sewing/knitting. Then my sister and her 4 kids moved in, and the sewing room became my husband's & my den/retreat, so the sewing got kicked to the basement. After they moved out, I took over the den, which had been the boys' bedroom. This large room is now my personal office, work office (I work from home) and sewing room. As large as it is, it's a bit cramped because of the need for two computer work stations. One of these days I'm going re-arrange and consolidate the computer stuff to give more room to my quilting.

Mine is a used to be walk in pantry/utility room...its very small, but I try to keep it organized . It is also where I keep my computer and office stuff. My sewing chair faces my desk and computer, all I have to do is swivel around and Im at my sewing machine. My cutting table is beside the machine and my fabric and book cases and storage are along the wall that goes to the garage,so that door is blocked. But we have another outside door to the garage out back so hubby uses it.

Re: where do you do your sewing and quilting?
I try to keep mine in my studio/3rd bedroom. I can leave it lay in there, & work on whatever I want, whenever I want, so it works for me. Makes it easier to keep track of, & find, everything too. I do my cross stitch mostly out in my glider rocker in the frontroom. DH likes company, watching tv at night, so this way I can sit & stitch on something...works for me! I feel for all of you who don't have a separate studio/sewing room! I didn't, for years, & I know what it's like!...

Re: where do you do your sewing and quilting?
I use the dining table for cutting the fabrics.
My sewing area is in the living room. Since the living room is very long, I kind of split it in 1/3 for the sewing area and 2/3 for living room. At the end of the living room is the staircase for the basement. I have hanged from the ceiling 2 large bamboo blinds to hide the staircase and to divide the sewing area from the living room. (I've placed the 2 blinds in a " T " shape). I have also placed a tall bookcase to stand against the largest blind. My sewing desk is hided behind the bookcase and stand against the other blind. So from the living room, you can't see the desk.
Also, the bookcase has 3 shelves and 2 spaces with doors. Behind the doors is my mother's sewing machine with the accessories, and the other doors there's different sewing and crafts accessories. The fabrics are in a big desk, with other stuffs for crafts, yarns, in the guest room which is too small to be also the sewing room.
I'll try to post images to show you!
