All the time.....hand baste for size of quilt if one width isn't enough....sometimes those 12" trimmings are also basted together...they do great for little quilts or wall hangings....they get quilted when finished anyway...no problem of them coming apart if you quilt them in the sandwich.

seems like a great idea to piece batting instead of throwing it out just wander does the foot on machine hang on it when you sew it ollie1shoe

I pieced some batting just tonight and used my walking foot. Didn't have any trouble with it snagging the foot.

You can also keep it together with little strips of fusible interfacing, saw this in one of Marti Mitchell's books. Imagine little band-aid size strips! Have done this with no problem. She also recommends cutting your match up line wavy, so you aren't dealing with straight edges or seams in your batting. Done all this with no problem & I like how it comes out. Lots of good suggestions here, for sure!

Most of my runners and wall hangings have pieced batting.. I have never had any trouble with it... I just zig zag them together..can't tell the difference. All of my runners and hangings are hand quilted maybe that is way you can't tell.. I don't know.
