What you saw on the fabric means that the "grey goods" are made in China. Grey Goods is the fabric itself, prior to being printed with a design. Most cotton fabric is made there.

Thanks for all of the information and comments. I have decided to wash everything before I begin. I used to always wash it before beginning then stopped...no reason, just stopped. I think there are way too many chemicals in most everything and it certainly won't hurt to wash out the sizing and make sure the quality is as it appears before I begin a project. Jo Ann
