Well it finally worked! Now mind you, I did the same thing this time, as I did the first time! Oh well, puters, what can I say! Glad it finally worked this time.
Anyway, ladies, do try these blocks, they are fun, & if you take the time to do them scrappy like this, they will go with anything you have!

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT....which magazine was that pattern in? The one I have is almost like that. I like the idea of the top part being like a large HST. After seeing the scrappy one in my magazine and then yours....I may have to rethink and do it scrappy. Always looking for a way to use up some of this fabric. Looks like you are using batiks. Are you also using other regular cotton? Is yours paper pieced? Sorry to be so nosey....I just really want to make one.

Oh, Happymrs, I LOVE those. One of these days...... I need to practice paper piecing first. You did a good job and I can't wait to see them finished and together.

Re: Has anyone made a New York Beauty?
Okay, found the magazine I used. It's a McCall's Quilting one, Oct 06. but don't worry, just keep an eye out for this block, it turns up in alot of quilt mags all the time. Also found a neat book awhile back, when an LQS was closing here, called "Radiant New York Beauties" by Valerie Wells. A little different than these blocks, but very pretty too, neat book. Haven't played with it yet, but she has some great designs & ideas in it. The quilt in the quilt mag is called "Cottage Beauty" by Pat Sloan, if that's any help. Hers wasn't scrappy, but mine is, as you can see, lol. My fabrics are all cotton, & they are batiks or whatever else I happened to have on hand. Only the piece with the points is paper pieced, so that might help you ladies out. The rest is just curves & the normal seams. Just find a NY beauty block you like, & play with it. You may be surprised how much you like it, & how fun they are!

Good morning happymrs...that's the same magazine I have, but the one I'm looking at didn't split the part above the points. Did you do that on your own? Her's looked pretty scrappy to me...she used fat quarters according to the article. As soon as I get a couple things out of the way I want to start in.

My goodness, you're right! I thought it was this pattern, but I must have used another one I found, lol. I will have to do some checking & post when I find the other one! I do like the split top, but you could do it as a solid piece too, mo matter. When I track down the other pattern, I will get back to you! Thanks for pointing this out to me!...I want to see pics when you all try these too!

Okay, found the right book! Here is a link to it, & some of you may already have this one in your stash. The blocks I did are on the cover, although, I am not doing this specific quilt, just playing with blocks so far....

I did a google search & found this pic, so you want to do the same & see what you come up with!
Good luck & this is nice book too, softcover & not expensive, as I recall
