This quilt was made with 100% polyester for the blue fabric, the rest is cotton. I used fusiable interfacing on the back of the border fabric to stop the fraying and to add stablity. When I use this fabric again I'll put the interfacing on before I even cut it, that will prevent the stretching and the fraying. When ironing the intefacing on, it's important not to use too high of a heat setting because the fabric will melt. Other then that, it's no problem.

I also use lots of flannel. Most of my quilt backs, even wallhangings, are flannel. The day after Thanksgiving finds me at Joanne's for the 99 cent flannel sale. This year I bought around 40 yards and it cost me less then $30! I made a king-sized quilt, front and back, with leftover scraps of both flannel and cotton, and some polyester with fusiable interfacing, and it came out very nicely. I'm working on another one, I sew the scraps together when I would normally cut the thread when I'm chain peicing. It' s fun to see the bits and peices of previously made quilts when I'm working on the current project.

Leetec, I went to Jo... the day after Thanksgiving and wondered what they were giving away. I didn't get to check out until 10:00am with my 9:00 coupon, the line was so long! The lady at the counter told me she cut...142 yards!!!! of flannel for some lady. Holy cow! I like to use flannel on the back as well. It is so soft and cozy.

Oasis, what pattern did you use for the quilts pictured? I have some fabric with a large motif that I have been wanting to use and this pattern may work very well. Thanks ever so!!

And by the way, they are beautiful! Nice choice of fabrics!

I made a crazy quilt using all types of fabrics, brocade, tafetta, cotton, polyester, etc., for DD#1. I used 14" muslin squares as a base and stitched the other fabrics at random. I used the embroidery stitches on my sewing machine to embellish it, unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it handy but it came out really great. I used a thin batting and backed it with a good quality flannel that I had washed a few times to shrink it down.

I think that using the embroidery stitches along the stitch lines reinforced those fabrics that would otherwise ravel and kept them all in place.

ME TOO! Have often thought of making a quilt using lucious fabrics that are used for drapery. I made a cute vest out of some fabric I purchased on sale at Jo Ann's in Aurora, CO. Have to dry clean it, but, not often. Is there a crazy quilt book/pattern you have used or one you could recommend for me?

Thanks>

Helen
