Happymrs, that's lovely. Did you cut all the triangles out then place them on a design wall to get the color bands? How did you get the white between the triangles in the border? It really looks great.

I thought charm squares were about 5" square. Is that right? Some of these photos appear to have larger pieces but maybe it's just my eyesight.

All the charm packs I've purchased have been 5" square. I think that is the most popular. You can also get charm packs though of different shapes like hearts, teddy bears, and scottie dogs for applique.

Sunsup...

Yes, I did this layout on my design wall first. Saw something similar in one quilt book, but they did a round of dark, then lights, & laid it out that way. DH walked in, the artist, & suggested this way, light to dark each round, & with a different color! Liked it better, so stuck with that. The border, same triangles, I just added a strip between them, thus the lattice effect. No pattern really, just cut each charm into four triangles & started playing. Couldn't match them in the corners, so just left the corners open, for stitching or maybe a little applique, not sure just yet, but this one was fun to make! And...I still have more triangles left for something else!

Lynn, haven't you entered any of the charm swaps? They are great stash builders.

Thank you for the information, Nancy. You have inspired me to try something along those lines. I still think the border is a stroke of genious.

QuilterBee, I haven't measured but my T9P is a lap size, maybe 45" square or so.
Also, HappyMrs what a beautiful quilt! Great new idea!

These are some really great ideas.I have always wanted to buy some charm packs, but never have because I didn't know what to do with them. Maybe now I will. I have a hard time picking out fabrics. Thanks for all the tips.
